Belo Sun Mining Insiders Benefitted From Selling Stock At CA$0.25

While Belo Sun Mining Corp (TSE:BSX) shareholders have had a good week with the stock up 17%, insiders can’t say the same having sold stock over the past year. They could have sold their shares at much higher prices and gotten a better return on their investment if they had waited.

Although we don’t think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

Belo Sun Mining Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider sale was by the insider, Mark Eaton, for CA$90k worth of shares, at about CA$0.25 per share. So it’s clear an insider wanted to take some cash off the table, even below the current price of CA$0.35. As a general rule we consider it to be discouraging when insiders are selling below the current price, because it suggests they were happy with a lower valuation. While insider selling is not a positive sign, we can’t be sure if it does mean insiders think the shares are fully valued, so it’s only a weak sign. It is worth noting that this sale was only 3.0% of Mark Eaton’s holding. Mark Eaton was the only individual insider to sell shares in the last twelve months.
