Live updates: Trump to give speech at UN General Assembly
Welcome to our coverage of today’s events at the United Nations General Assembly in New York today, where President Donald Trump will address global leaders.
The president plans to meet a host of foreign counterparts alongside the United Nations General Assembly meetings in New York today. We’ve rounded those up for you below:
-
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who Trump said last week should agree to a peace deal with Russia
-
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, who has been pressing for new sanctions on Russia
-
Argentine President Javier Milei, a top Trump ally who shares some of his political views
Trump will also meet with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, as is standard for American presidents when they visit the body for the annual general assembly.
The president will also host the leaders of multiple Arab and Muslim nations, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Turkey, Pakistan, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Jordan, for multilateral talks. Those talks come as efforts to end the Gaza war stall, and as Trump comes under pressure to apply more pressure on Israel to end the fighting.
He’ll then end the day at a reception with dozens of world leaders before returning to the White House.
