Power Metallic Mines

Power Metallic charges up with former minister

Power Metallic (TSX-V:PNPN) has appointed former federal minister Seamus O’Regan to its board as the company steers its Nisk discovery in Québec towards marketability for its polymetallic materials.

O’Regan has served several minister positions for Canada, with areas of focus including energy and natural resources, Indigenous services, seniors, labour, veteran affairs, as well as associate Minister of National Defence.

As Minister of Energy & Natural Resources, he played a key role in overseeing the country’s first Critical Minerals Plan, Critical Minerals List, the National Hydrogen Plan, and the Small Modular 6Reactor Action Plan.

He attained a Master of Philosophy from the University of Cambridge, focusing on Indigenous participation in the resources sector after studying politics at both St. Francis Xavier University and University College in Dublin.

O’Regan began his political career as executive assistant to the Minister of Justice & Attorney General and policy director for a premier before entering the journalism field with a notable role at CTV’s Canada AM as a morning news host.

He has previously held roles on the boards of World Wildlife Fund Canada and Canada World Youth, while also currently serving as a member of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society.

CEO Terry Lynch says the company is pleased to welcome O’Regan as he accepts Power Metallic’s board offering.

“His skillsets in government affairs particularly his time as Energy & Natural Resources Minister and Minister of Indigenous Services will be very helpful as we look to guide our high grade polymetallic (copper, platinum, palladium, gold, silver, and nickel) discovery Nisk at Nemaska, Québec through exploration to development and what we hope will be the world’s first carbon neutral polymetallic mine,” Lynch says.

“Increasingly critical mineral projects like Nisk are becoming vital not only for the economic output of the potential mine but the roles these materials play in the defense, industrial, and artificial intelligence infrastructure the modern world requires.”

This appointment is concurrent with Power Metallic’s ongoing 100km drill program with four rigs actively turning.

A fifth rig is expected to join activities next month before the company expects initial results. Results will follow every two to four weeks until the end of the year.

O’Regan explains that he is excited to join the team amid the company’s intentions to bring the Nisk discovery to the market.

“Canada is uniquely positioned to lead the world in these types of developments given our incredible mineral wealth, expertise, and geopolitical position,” O’Regan says.

He will earn an aggregate 1.15 million options valued at C$1.45 ($1.61) per share along with other officers, exercisable for up to five years from the date of issue.

Power Metallic is a Canadian explorer focused on developing its Nisk discovery to become the country’s next polymetallic mine.
